Police arrested two men late Friday in connection with the robbery last Thursday at the Cayman National Bank (CNB) Savannah branch. “On Friday afternoon 5 February, a motor car suspected of being involved in the incident was recovered from the Spotts Newlands area,” said a spokesperson for the Royal Cayman Islands Police Service (RCIPS). A surprise rise in the cost of turtle meat, which is a staple in most Caymanians’ diet and a prized gourmet treat revered by visitors was announced last Friday by Boatswain’s Beach, home of the world famous Turtle Farm, the only supplier of turtle meat here. The price of turtle stew rose from $5.40 to $16 per pound; turtle steak rose from $9 to $27 per pound; turtle menavelin rose from $4 to $12 per pound. read more...




The public relations representatives of Islands Tours Limited responded on Friday to reports that taxi drivers had petitioned the government to stop any additional purchase of buses to service cruise ship pre-bookings for transportation. The taxi drivers are worried that the rates charged will drive down the current rate of transfer to and from Seven Mile Beach, thus driving them out of business. read more...
