Joe Stasiuk took over the reigns from Alan Aron as president of Stingray Swim Club at their Annual General Meeting held recently.

“We have a lot of work ahead of us in the 2003-2004 year,” said Mr Stasiuk. “Our Board will endeavor to make our roles even more productive by identifying those key areas that require focus and effort.

“This includes offering high quality local and overseas meets, producing ‘real-time’ results on our website, offering wider selections of club gear, and more.

“In the end, we want our full membership to recognise that the Stingray Swim Club offers children in Cayman an affordable opportunity to excel in sports while learning key life lessons for future success.”

Also elected was Sharon Hurlstone as vice-president, Kirsten Lynch as secretary and Catherine Philip remained on as treasurer. Newly-elected to the swim club board are, Tracey Myrie, Gillian Nelson, and Shelley Smith. Returning to serve as board members are: Gilfredo Gomez, Sara Mackay, Adam and Amanda Roberts, and Toni Rombough.

Speaking about the elections Mr Stasiuk said: “While the focus must be on the kids, we shouldn’t diminish the extraordinary contributions that our volunteers make behind the scenes to ensure that the kids get a chance to compete and have fun.

“It is therefore even more satisfying to see some of these volunteers take on even greater responsibility by choosing to serve on the Stingray Swim Club Board.”
