Cricketers young and old, past and present, were honoured recently at the Cayman Islands Cricket Association (CICA) awards banquet at Ottmar's Restaurant at the Grand Pavilion.

Besides recognising the best performances players, performances and teams in the Money Express Division 1 and Division 2 leagues this year, CICA also acknowledged many of the other people and organizations that have helped the sport of cricket develop tremendously in the Cayman Islands.

CICA also inducted five more people into the Hall of Fame, including Eric Keith Peter Burke, Winston Skinner, Augustine Mickey Greaves, Laurie Ivan Farrington and Cecil Joseph Ebanks, who was inducted posthumously.

Two of CICA's major award for the year went to Steve Gordon, as Cricketer of the Year, and Omar Bryan, as Youth Cricketer of the Year. Omar also won the award as International Cricketer of the Year.

Although His Excellency the Governor, Bruce Dinwiddy was unable to attend the event this year as planned because he had business in England to attend to, the awards ceremony included a number of distinguished guests, including the Minister of Community Services, Youth, Sports and Gender Affairs Dr the Hon Frank McField, and Martin Vieira, the International Cricket Council Americas Regional Manager, who was making his first visit ever to the Cayman Islands.
