Crime prevention advice for holiday season
Monday, December 8, 2003
According to the Royal Cayman Islands Police (RCIP), the Christmas holiday season is historically a time when there is an increase in the number of residential burglaries.
Detectives have noted over recent weeks that a number of the burglaries under investigation are at premises that were left insecure, usually with a window or door left open. This, for the opportunist thief is like an invitation.
The RCIP is reminding householders to secure their homes both in the daytime and at night to reduce the possibility of becoming victim to this type of crime.
Residents are also urged to contact their local Community Beat Officer for further advice or obtain a copy of Be Safe, Be Secure, The RCIP Practical Guide To Crime Reduction. These can be obtained at any police station.
