German/Cayman relations moved a little bit closer on Saturday following the broadcast from a catamaran party in Cayman to a radio station in Munich.

The party came about following an AIDS charity auction in which the three German djs from Charivari Radio offered their dj services to the highest bidder.

Helmet Meissner and his wife Patricia, from Germany, who live in Cayman outbid all competitors to secure the djs. Although the party was supposed to be held in Germany, Mr Meissner upped his offer to seal the deal.

More than 30 of the Meissners' friends were on board to party into the night. "We all had an amazing time, everyone was up dancing all night," said Mr Meissner.

The party had substantial spin off effects for tourism in the Cayman Islands. In the weeks leading up to the big event Cayman was featured heavily on air, and on the radio's website, www.charivari.de, there are links to Cayman Islands information.

Since returning, the trio have wasted no time in putting their holiday snaps and experiences on the website.

Mr Meissner is pleased about the publicity it has generated for Cayman. "This has been a great bonus, we love Cayman and we want to share what it has to offer with people in Germany."
