Renee Tuggle, the Texas coordinator for the Adopt-A-Beach cleanup crew that found a message in a bottle sent from 11-year-old Caymanian Nichole Tibbetts, visited Grand Cayman last Thursday and met her new friend in George Town.

Visiting for the day on the cruise ship Rhapsody of the Seas, it was the second visit to Cayman by Renee, who also came once before on a cruise ship 12 years ago.

Nichole launched the message from her father's boat 'Island Girl' on 16 July last year, and it was found on the Texas coast on 20 September. Another message sent out by Nichole around the same time was found near Titusville, Florida on 14 October.

The message, typed by Nichole herself, gave her name, age, postal address, email address, telephone number and the date it was sent. "Please respond," the note said, "and I will send you a postcard of Cayman."

Ms Tuggle, who was travelling with her parents, had one other mission while here in Cayman: to purchase an old coin medallion, something she had wanted to do, but did not, the first time she visited.
