Dr the Hon Frank McField officially opened the National Youth Commission's (NYC) new office in the F&J Centre, on Mary Street last Friday.
The opening ceremony was attended by His Excellency the Governor, Bruce Dinwiddy, Mrs Dinwiddy, Dr the Hon Frank McField, government officials and guests.
The NYC, now a non-government organisation with government support, has been in operation since 2001. Initiated by the youth ministry, the NYC's goal is to guide government and private efforts in the interests of young people, with education being a key concern.
NYC Chairperson, Jenny Manderson, said: "With this opening the NYC will specifically focus on its current priority of literacy and will be working with educators and other relevant agencies to address the issue."
