The people of Cayman must make their decision
Wednesday, March 10, 2004
Dear Sir,
The people of Cayman should be outraged that C&W now so blatantly reduces its telephone rates in response to the long-awaited competition from AT&T and
Digicel.
C&W for years fought to maintain its hold on the people of Cayman through its monopoly phone system and charged us outrageous and serious prices. Now it has the nerve to say it is fighting back and lowering its prices to offer us the best price.
So this new found ability of C&W to charge us about 25 per cent of what it has been charging for the past 20 years means that it has been robbing us blind and making so much profit that it should now be giving us a free phone service.
How dumb do they think we are as consumers. If we now give our business to C&W, and AT&T and Digicel go away, are we to believe that C&W will continue to give us great rates? I don't think so.
And I don't think that we are stupid enough to give it our business after it has taken advantage of us for all these years. I'd rather pay more to the competition.
