First grade teacher by day, UK-born Philippa Roney likes to shake up a salsa storm by night. The 30-year-old teacher at the First Baptist Christian School came to Cayman just over a year ago. "I needed to stay fit to keep up with my six-year-olds. They run me off my feet," she laughs. Since undertaking weekly evening classes, Philippa became a member of the Café Med salsa dancers, performing at a number of local events, including a telethon. "I wanted to learn something new and dancing was a great way to exercise at the same time." Always keen to embark on a sporting challenge, Philippa and her husband Jon recently took part in the Cable & Wireless 800m Sea Swim. Both achieved third place in their age groups and look forward to improving their positions next year.
