PETROLIA, USA - According to CounterPunch, since the 1960s the US government itself has encouraged American banks to set up branches in Caribbean hot-money centres thus enabling domestic investors to globalize their operations by setting up Enron-style offshore affiliates in the Cayman Islands.

GRAND RAPIDS, USA - The Grand Rapids Press reports that Cayman Islands native Charles Whittaker will fight Troy Rowland of Michigan for the World Boxing Council Caribbean Boxing Federation interim middleweight title in a scheduled 10-rounder on 17 April.
Cruise passengers injured at Stingray City
HOUSTON, USA - According to the Houston Chronicle, three cruise passengers were injured getting out of the independent tour operator's boat at Stingray City after cruise line-arranged tours had been cancelled because of bad weather.

NEW YORK, USA - The New York Lawyer reports that China's largest chip maker, Cayman Islands-registered Semiconductor Manufacturing International Corp, raised $1.8 billion in a share offer that is reportedly the third largest in the world so far this year.
