A Caymanian teenager is beginning to make a name for herself after performing
in the New York production of Godspell, at the Clare Rose Playhouse in Long
Island.
Teri Quappe, 16, of George Town, played the role of Robin in Godspell until
21 March.
The production, written by John Michael Tebelak, makes Jesus’ teachings of
kindness, tolerance and love, appealing to a modern audience,
No stranger to Cayman theatre, Miss Quappe played young Queen Isabella in the
Cayman Drama Society’s production of Magna Carta and Tzeitel in the St Ignatius
production of Fiddler On The Roof, before attending college in Long Island.
After an audition that was open to public, Miss Quappe landed the role of
Robin, one of nine roles in the play, and was responsible for singing the
international hit Day-By-Day.
The play was well received by the Long Island community and garnered positive
reviews from local critics.
“It’s refreshing that a play dealing with morality, betrayal and a
crucifixion can still provoke laughter from the audience,” wrote Patricia
Proven, of The Long Island Advance.
The production is now slated to travel to Ireland.
