Ready for take-off with the Purple Toucan

Early registrations are now being accepted for the Purple Toucan 5K Walk/Run which takes places on Sunday, 16 May.

The event, which is sponsored by Island Companies Ltd, starts from Safehaven at 7 am and is out to encourage kids and strollers as well as serious athletes.

There is a free Purple Toucan T-shirt for the first 100 people to register and early registrations are being accepted on weekdays from 3-5:30 pm at the British Outpost in the Duty Free Centre, George Town (949-0742); Duty Free Ltd, Galleria Plaza, West Bay Road (945-5754) or Island Companies head office at 224 North Sound Road (945-5800).

Entrants will also be able to register at Safehaven from 6:45 am on the day of the event. The registration fee is $10.

There will be prizes in the age groups: 19&Under, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59 and 60-plus for males and females.

The event is also being used as a fundraiser for the Special Olympics Cayman Islands.
