Dispensing medicine to the sick of Grand Cayman for nearly eight years at the Health Care Pharmacy, Janett Flynn has carried on a family tradition. An uncle of hers was a druggist back in her home of Kingston, Jamaica, and she would spend afternoons watching him compounding the customers’ medicines. Her uncle’s kindness in teaching her combined with her love of chemistry made a career as a pharmacist an obvious choice. She did consider being a nurse but felt she might not like working with blood. As a result, she graduated from the University of Technology (formerly CAST) in Jamaica. She came to Cayman from Jamaica for the peace and quiet and to take a time out from the hustle and bustle of the busy city in which she grew up. She misses her family, but has no regrets.
