Invitation to celebrate Art in the Park for a special Mother’s Day
Friday, May 7, 2004
Sending flowers is a tradition for Mother’s Day, so for something a little
different this Mother’s Day, the management of the Queen Elizabeth II Botanic
Park is suggesting a day among the flora and fauna of the park at the Art in the
Park.
Visitors will also be treated to art and craft displays, music, children’s
activities and food for sale at this special event, one of four this year to
celebrate the Park’s 10th Anniversary.
Art In the Park is open both Saturday, 8 May and Sunday, 9 May from 9 am to 5
pm, with admission $6 for adults and $1 for children under 14.
More than 40 artists have confirmed exhibitions and many will have work on
sale for an extra Mother’s Day treat.
The Tourism Attraction Board (TAB) is responsible for overseeing the
management of the Botanic Park.
Chief Executive Officer, Gilbert Connolly has led the organisation of the
anniversary events this year to encourage residents to enjoy the beauty and
tranquility of the gardens.
He said: “This is a busy weekend with a number of high profile events taking
place in Cayman, however we hope that people will be able to enjoy the other
events and also join us to mark this important anniversary.
“Our botanical gardens are often considered the best in the Caribbean and this
is a unique opportunity to sample the work of some of the best artists in the
Cayman Islands within the natural beauty of the gardens.”
