
New Latin Dance Academy is opened

On the opening evening for the new Latin Dance Academy on Wednesday, 26 May.
in the Kings Sports and Fitness Centre, Crew e Road, George Town, Latin dance
enthusiasts met to sign up for the classes.
Director and co-ordinator, Jose Gonzalez, said: “There will be male and
female certified dance instructors.”
“We are starting off by teaching salsa dancing, but later on there will be
merenge, bolero, cha-cha-cha, and a Cuban dance called rueda.”
Salsa dancing courses include a beginners class, which is held 7-8 pm on
Tuesdays, and 1-2 pm on Saturdays, and an intermediate class on Wednesdays, 8-9
pm and Saturdays, 2.30-3.30 pm.
Volkr Wacker had been invited to the evening’s activities. “I’ve done
ballroom dancing before, but it might be nice to start again,” he said.
Esmeralda Roberts, from Panama said: “This is a great time to support the
school. I like merengue; I like the salsa; rumba, everything.”
Nanette Wacker said: “I love salsa, merengue, anything with that Latin feel
to it.”
During the evening, guests were treated to a sportswear fashion show,
followed by a display of Latin dancing.
