The Cayman Humane Society dog walking programme has been running now for many
years and continues to make a big difference to the lives of the dogs at the
shelter.
The programme is made possible through the dedication of regular volunteers
who spend a couple of hours, three days a week, Saturday, Sunday and Wednesday
walking the dogs in an area near the shelter on North Sound Road.
“The dogs love it,” said Cayman Humane Society Manager Andrea Braun, “They
look forward to their big trip every week and it really makes a difference to
them.”
The Humane Society currently houses approximately 50 dogs and the volunteers
make sure none of the dogs miss out on their weekly walks, “We have
approximately 10 regular volunteers,” Ms Braun continued, “and a few part-time
volunteers, and they don’t finish until every dog has been out for a walk.”
Those interested in becoming a volunteer dog walker or would like to help out
with the cats, please contact the Humane Society on 949-1461.
Children under 13 must be accompanied by an adult.
