- Eddie Powell's letter was indeed thought provoking. Gender violence and
domestic violence are a scourge to any civilized society. If it is true that
both men and women are killed or even injured in domestic/gender violence in
Cayman, why are the statistics and reports of this nature kept largely
secret? Until people can publicly address this significant social ill in a
forum such as the Cayman Net News, gender violence will continue to be
accepted as an incurable social phenomenon. Unfortunately, problems do not
ameliorate themselves. The Caymanian public should be revealed the scope and
prevalence of gender violence over the years. Whispering, gossip - or the
vague allusions made by posters hanging at the police station - are clearly
not helping - Anonymous
