Digicel’s Flex-e-Card offers free credit

Thursday, June 10, 2004

Digicel has announced that its Flex-e-Card service, the first of its kind in the Cayman Islands, is now available to all debit card customers of the Bank of Butterfield, Cayman National, First Caribbean and Scotia Bank.

And to celebrate the expansion of its electronic top-up service, Digicel is offering free call credit to all pre-paid customers using the service.

The service, which enables Digicel’s pre-paid customers to add credit to their mobile phones through Bank of Butterfield automatic teller machines (ATMs), was launched in April. At that time, the service was available only to Bank of Butterfield customers.

“We have kept the promise we made to our customers in April, that we would extend this easy and convenient service to other debit cards holders,” said CEO of Digicel Cayman, J D Buckley.

“This is in keeping with our commitment to providing quality service and innovation for the benefit of all our customers,” he added.

To mark the expansion of the service to CI debit cardholders from First Caribbean, Scotia Bank and Cayman National Bank, Digicel will give extra call credit to all customers using the service until 5 July.

Customers adding $10 to their digiFLEX account will receive an extra $1 in call credit, those purchasing $25 will receive $3 extra call credit and those purchasing $50 will receive $7 extra call credit.

With Flex-e-Card, Digicel’s pre-paid digiFLEX customers can top-up their mobile phones at any time of day or night through all Bank of Butterfield ATM locations.

Customers can use their debit cards to top up their phone credit by following the instructions displayed on the ATM screen. Use of the service will generate a receipt with a Flex-e-Card number, which is used to recharge the phone.

Bank of Butterfield ATMs are located at West Shore Centre, Compass Centre, Hurley’s Eden Centre, Hurley’s Grand Harbour, Butterfield House Drive-Thru and the bank’s downtown branch.
