The Rotary Club of Grand Cayman continued to support the National Gallery’s Bonaventure House Art Outreach Programme by providing funding once again this year.

The Programme, which runs every week on Thursdays from 5 – 7 pm, is attended primarily by boys from the Bonaventure Home, as well as younger boys from a nearby foster home.

National Gallery’s Acting Director Nancy Barnard expressed her gratitude for the continued funding for the Programme from the Rotary Club of Grand Cayman, which also has a rich history with the Bonaventure House itself. “This is only one of the nine outreach programmes that the National Gallery does throughout the community every single week throughout the year, and so we are constantly looking for individuals or organisations that believe in art for betterment of lives, and want to support another programme. We certainly hope that the Rotary funding will continue, and will keep them up to date with how the Programme is progressing,” she said.

The National Gallery’s Outreach Programmes Coordinator, April Bending said that art helps the boys. “This and the other of our outreach programmes allow a safe environment for participants to express themselves both verbally and artistically in a creative way.”

Jonathan Nicholson, President of the Rotary Club of Grand Cayman, noted: “I’m delighted that our club is able to continue its support for this very worthy programme and look forward to hosting an art auction at our club’s weekly meeting shortly to raise more funds from our members.”
