The Executive Director of the National Trust, Theresa Broderick, has resigned
her post effective 1 August 2004, according to a press release issued on
Wednesday.
Mrs. Broderick announced of her decision at a National Trust Council meeting
held earlier this month, and the Council accepted her resignation with regret.
“Mrs Broderick has been a great asset and she will be missed,” the National
Trust press release said.
She will continue to support and advise the National Trust and will remain an
enthusiastic member and supporter.
Frank Roulstone has agreed to serve as interim Executive Director to assist
during the transition period. Mr Roulstone is a long-time National Trust member
with a strong interest in both historic preservation and the natural world.
“The National Trust Council expresses its sincere appreciation for Mr
Roulstone’s willingness to serve and appreciates his dedication and his
commitment to the mission of the National Trust,” the press release commented.
The National Trust indicated that the position for a permanent Executive
Director would be advertised shortly, with interviews taking place during the
summer, and that the successful candidate would begin working with the Trust in
the early autumn.
