In response to the recent severe flooding in the Dominican Republic and
Haiti, Cayman Net News and MCM Consultants held a fundraiser to benefit the
Cayman Islands Red Cross relief efforts last week.
Held at the Corner Pocket, the Cuban band Show Me performed, while those in
attendance were asked to contribute five dollars at the door. Approximately
CI$1,000 was raised for the cause, which included part of the proceeds of the
bar receipts from Corner Pocket and a donation by Minister of Community Services
Dr the Hon Frank McField.
Clay Coleman was the winner of two roundtrip tickets to Cuba donated by
Cayman Airways. Cayman Distributors donated a champagne bouquet, which was won
by Donnel O’Sullivan. Three people also won Show Me recordings, compliments of
the all-female band.
Cayman Net News’ Brian Buckley was the coordinator of the event.
