A week after hitting the airwaves, new radio station Style 96.5 FM was introduced to a gathering of some 100 guests at the official launch event.
The open-air reception, held in the parking lot at the station’s headquarters in Island Electronic Building, Godfrey Nixon Way, was hosted by the principals of Panorama Productions Dave and Angela Martins, licensees for the ninth radio station in Cayman.
The station aims to offer music plus other non-musical segments involving the cultural aspects of Caymanian life which are not always portrayed in an attractive way.
Dave Martins, Creative Director for the station and co-host for the evening, revealed that Style 96.5 FM was the official host of Star Quest – Cayman’s version of the Fox TV show, American Idol.
This programme, he stated, was one in which the local talent being unearthed would amaze audiences.
The objective, Mr Martins stated, is to expose another side to community and regional personalities that were not well known.
Mrs Martins also disclosed one of the station’s upcoming monthly highlights – a short Rundown song that would be about topical issues throughout the preceding four weeks.
Included was the introduction of strong Caribbean voices – Style FM’s radio personalities “Big” George Wayne, Nicola Barriteau, Maya King and Mark Anthony, as well as DJ Deon
Sadaphal.
