Peter Gooden and Son Removal and Construction Company made a donation of
goals, nets and corner flags for the new Cayman National Football Centre.
Mr Peter Gooden made the donation at Sunday’s match between Tivoli Gardens
and the Cayman Islands at the Truman Bodden Stadium.
The 17-acre Centre is to be built in Spotts off Pointdextor Road, on land
committed to the Cayman Islands Football Association (CIFA) with a 99-year lease
from the Planning Ministry at the end of July.
CIFA was earlier selected to benefit from the Goal Project initiated by the
Federation of International Football Associations (FIFA), which was dependent on
CIFA securing the land. The Goal Project will provide US$400,000 towards
construction costs.
Mr Gooden said his son had benefited from the sport and added, “I have always
been a member of Strikers Football Club and always had a particular interest in
the sport and what it does for the development of young people.”
Mr Gooden said he would encourage the business community to find ways to give
back to the community in ways that will be of particular benefit to young
people.
