In its ninth year the East End football camp has continued to grow with more than 120 youngsters now taking part.

The football camp, which takes place every summer, was held at the Donovan Rankine Playing Field in East End between, 2-6 August.

The camp focused on discipline, learning the rules of the game and having fun. Camp organizers and founders Al McLean and Darrell Rankine , were both brought up in East End and as former footballers they know the importance of a football camp to the kids.

In the past, the nearest camp you could attend was in George Town. Since then there is a camp in about every district, which is made possible because of parents and supports like Al McLean and Darrell Rankine.

This year the major sponsor of the East End Football Camp, was MLA Arden McLean. Arden said, “This is my way of giving back to the Community.” Thanks were given to the volunteers in the program and the coaches who took time off work to coach the kids.

The coaches this year included Thiago Cunha, Ian McLaughlin, Elbert McLean, Gillie Seymour and Cherry Ann Whittaker.
