GENERAL ELECTION 2004
Elections Office warning to those doing business with Government

Wednesday, August 25, 2004
The Election office has announced an advisory to all prospective candidates
contesting seats in the 2004 General Elections of the provisions contained in
Section 19 of the Cayman Islands Constitution, relating to disqualifications for
elected membership and in particular to Section (1) (G).
This section says that no one can be elected as a member of the Assembly who
is a party to, a partner in a firm, a director or manager of a company which is
under contract with or doing any kind of work for the Government of the Islands
unless they publish very clearly exactly what they are doing and for which
government office at least one month before the day of the poll.
In other words anybody making a profit from the government needs to make sure
that everybody knows everything about it if they want to run for office.
The final date for publication of this notice is Friday, 15 October 2004.
