RCIP Community Policing Beat Officers Cornelius Pompey and Jaclyn Ebanks recently helped launched a Neighbourhood Watch Programme at the Hope Springs Apartment Complex off Smith Road.

During the launch meeting, which was held at the poolside of the complex, Officer Pompey stated that although the area was relatively safe, it was still important to start a neighbourhood watch programme to help prevent crime from occurring.

Also speaking at the meeting was Community Policing Officer for the Watlers Road area Ian Lavine. Officer Lavine stressed the importance of neighbours looking out of one another and he encouraged residents to give police their support.

Speaking on behalf of the Hope Springs residents Yolita Parchment, who was also appointed as the Co-ordinator of the Neighbourhood Watch Programme, welcomed the RCIP officers. She further stated that participating in the programme is a good way for the public to establish a better relationship with the RCIP and she encouraged other communities to get involved in the programme to make their neighbourhoods a safer place.
