Cayman banker addresses offshore conference

Friday, October 1, 2004

Eduardo D'Angelo Silva, President of the Cayman Islands Bankers Association, will address attendees at OffshoreAlert's 3rd Due Diligence & Asset Recovery Symposium, on October 13th-15th at The Biltmore Hotel, Coral Gables, Florida, on the state of the Cayman market after Ivan.

"We have included this special segment at the eleventh-hour”, said David Marchant, OffshoreAlert's publisher, “in an attempt to clear up the confusion that currently exists in the international marketplace about the state of Cayman's offshore sector in the wake of such a devastating event."

"The Cayman Islands advertises itself as the world's fifth largest financial centre and, as such, the health of its offshore sector concerns many people around the world,” Mr Marchant said.

"Mr. Silva's address will be an opportunity to send out a 'business as usual' message to the global financial community and boost confidence.”

OffshoreAlert's conference will attract attendees from around the world. Alongside Mr. Silva, speakers include Nick Leeson, the former trader whose $1.3 billion losses caused the collapse of Barings Bank; Mac Imrie, attorney, Maples and Calder; John Moscow, Manhattan's Assistant District Attorney; and Dr. Stanton Samenow, a criminal psychologist.
