Relaxed import duty ends October 12

In the aftermath of hurricane Ivan customs import duty was relaxed on certain items until 30 September, following a Cabinet meeting on Sunday a decision was made to extend the time period of the duty relaxation until 12 October.

Generators, Chain-saws, Tar-Paper, Tarpaulin, Transistor Radios, Batteries, Medicines, Medical Supplies, Water, Meals-Ready-to-Eat and any other items considered hurricane relief, at the discretion of the Collector of Customs will not have a duty imposed on them, provided they are consigned to individuals in the Cayman Islands, or to relief agencies.
