LETTER TO THE EDITOR
Cayman Net News website is a real lifeline
Wednesday, October 20, 2004
Dear Sir:
We have Caymanian "refugees" filling our once empty nest. Two children who
were born there and are now here in St. Catharine’s, Ontario, Canada in School
with two of their cousins. We read your website daily. It was too bad that you
lost power and information during the critical height of Ivan. We had our
daughter and family in a downtown bank building and lost contact. Without the
Peace of God to calm us it would have been more traumatic for all I am sure.
Certainly to us overseas here it seemed like information was deliberately
being withheld but perhaps with GIS losing power and maybe many staff losing
nerve, it can be understood. Let's hope the lessons learned will result in
better information service the next time. Late news in today's world is just
not acceptable.
Your website and the streaming of Radio Cayman is a real lifeline with
Cayman, the island we have come to love after many visits. This winter's trip
will have to be cancelled as it seems now.
Keep up the good work and God bless.
Horst Mielke,
St. Catharine’s, ON. Canada
