Preparations are well underway for the forthcoming re-opening of the World Gym Fitness Centre in the Seven Mile Beach area. Mrs Tara Tricket, Marketing personnel, trainer and Nutrix Nutritionist, said that the gym held up well to the hurricane and did not suffer from water damage, as it is located on the first floor.
“The building had been broken into and was used as refuge from the hurricane by around 70 people. There was some damage to the eastern side of the building, caused by strong winds, but works are already well ahead, with completion expected a couple of weeks after the re-opening scheduled for Monday, 1 November 2004,” Tara said.
She added: “The building has been undergoing renovation works since June this year, and the new roof along with the waterproofing of the building contributed significantly to the building holding up so well, however, the renovations work will now widen to include the small area affected by the hurricane.”
“Most programmes will be available when the gym reopens on Monday, 1 November, with the hours of opening being from 6am to noon and then from 5pm up to 8pm. Saturdays and Sundays it will open from 8am to 4pm.
“These hours are designed to assist people in returning home before dark and are also in line with the curfew.”
