- Editor’s note: According to CUC’s Caren Thompson, their construction crews are currently rebuilding the main lines between Safehaven and the West Bay Fire Station as they were completely destroyed during the hurricane. Customer connections will be substantially completed by November 20th. Any customers in this area who have not yet received approval from the Government’s electrical inspector should contact the Planning Department at (345) 916-5873 to arrange an inspection. CUC’s service crews will be following behind the construction crews to reconnect customers. Any queries, please call CUC at 949-4300 or email to

- I am a member at Gold’s Gym and the Links at Safehaven Golf Club and all I have heard about them since Ivan is what is on the marl road. I think the owners and management of these clubs have a responsibility to their members to let them know what is happening. I have been unable to make telephone contact with either club -

- First of all I must say that I am happy to know that Cayman is moving at a rapid speed to get the island back in order and regards to every one who is helping in that area. Secondly, my boyfriend is working in Grand Cayman and I am in a next country but we are planning to get married in February 05. Is there a possibility I would be able to live with him in Grand Cayman? He is on work permit. Thank you in anticipation of an early response. Have a good day -

- I am inquiring about getting a work permit to enter the Caymans. I have been contacted by a few developers who are joining the efforts in rebuilding your beautiful island. I own a wholesale furniture company based out of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. We have warehouse facilities in Miami, and are fully stocked with over 250 lines of furniture. We believe with our inventory and price structure we could be of great help in the rebuilding efforts, and getting the tourism back up and operating in a timely fashion. Please advise me what procedures need to be taken in order to get on the Island to help -
Dean Austin, Elite Purchasing Group, Inc.
- We have a vacation booked at the Beach Club Resort for the end of January ‘05. Seems no one will give us a straight answer regarding whether or not it’s a good idea to keep this trip... it seems that tourists aren’t going to be much appreciated during this time of recovery. Any current, honest information would be much appreciated. Best wishes for a safe and speedy recovery to those who lost homes -

- I’m a dental hygienist in Canada. I was planning to start searching for jobs in the New Year - prior to Ivan. Based on what you’re experiencing now, when do you think there may realistically be demand for such services? Your news coverage in this paper has proven to be a much more candid look at the reality of the rebuilding process of your country! Thanking you in advance for any insight you can provide. Hoping to join you soon -

- I read that the ships are beginning to visit Grand Cayman again but my question is do you have any idea when visitors will be able to fly in? We had our tickets for September 16 through October14 to visit close friends. We just want to get an idea of when it might be before we’ll be able to visit them as they live in North Side. Thank you -
