The Cayman Islands Football Team’s recent superb performance in beating Jamaica’s National Team and the British Virgin Islands, comes as a result of a number of measures taken to ensure better results.
Technical Director, Brazilian, Marcos Tinoco, said the players have applied themselves well and the training sessions that they have undergone are paying off.
Three players of the National Team were beneficiaries of an agreement signed with Clube de Regatas Vasco da Gama from Rio de Janeiro Brazil and the Cayman Islands Football Association.
Joseph Tatum and Jairo Sanches stayed in Brazil for 45 days training while under-14 player Gabriel Godet, stayed for 12 days.
Mr Tinoco said the footballers were exposed to professional training where they learnt a variety of techniques.
The Technical Director was also high in praise for the owner of local gym, Fitness Connection, Laura Ribbins, who allowed the National Football team to use her facility to keep fit free of charge.
Mr Tinico said this contribution was invaluable and they appreciated the much-needed assistance to ensure that the team maintained fitness levels.
During an interview with Ms Ribbins, she said after the last couple of games the National Team played before travelling to Jamaica, they really needed a good work out.
Ms Ribbins concluded: “Working out is essential to avoid injuries and so I did not hesitate to make my own contribution and invited them in.”
