Vehicle duty confusion has been clarified

Friday,  December 24, 2004

According to recent correspondence in both Cayman Net News and on the website, caymannetnews.com there has been some confusion over the current duty concession on replacement vehicles which Government Information services, (GIS) have confirmed remains in place until 30 June 2005.

To be eligible for the duty reduction, drivers need to get approval from the Portfolio of Finance and Economics (application forms available from 2nd Floor Glass House).

The form should be submitted to the Portfolio of Finance, along with copies of a driver’s licence and a certificate of termination for the old vehicle (from Vehicle Licensing Department) or a letter from the insurance company (duly stamped by an official) confirming the vehicle has been written off.
