LETTER TO THE EDITOR

Did Pedro’s Castle survive the storm?

Wednesday,  January  5, 2005

Dear Sir,

Happy New Year to you and to your wonderful staff. May the year 2005 bring you, your staff and everybody on Grand Cayman a prosperous New Year.

Though I am not on the island and my daughter is now back home in Canada, I still keep reading your newspaper on a regular basis.

I have one question in regards to Pedro St. James Castle. Did Pedro’s Castle survive the storm? I have not seen any information in regards to this lovely historic site. Please could you tell me? You see this is the first place I stayed when I first visited Grand Cayman in 1969 - in fact my first husband and I slept in the four-poster bed on the very top floor, so you see Pedro’s Castle is very dear to me. I hope you can help me.

Kathy Andrews

Editor’s note: Pedro’s Castle did indeed survive the storm and in fact a New Year’s Eve celebration was held there at the weekend.
