Basics of budgeting workshop set

The Basics of Budgeting Workshop reviews the key steps in preparing a budget including month end accruals and adjustments, preparation of special reports for management, cash flow analysis, and completion of variance analysis reports, and is sponsored by the Cayman Islands Chamber of Commerce Professional Development series.

“This workshop is targeted at and designed for people who want to get an understanding of the basics of budgeting,” said Terry Carson the workshop instructor. 

The basics of budgeting course covers the main sources of entries and how they impact on budget preparation and variance analysis; main structure for financial statements and explore in more detail the types of accounts that each budget category may contain and analyzing variances as well as reporting to management. Important factors used in budgeting will also be discussed.

Terry Carson has been an audit partner in the firm of Grant Thornton in Grand Cayman and has been a Senior Financial Officer in various businesses for the past 19 years. 

He has been presented with many awards in both public speaking and finance and has provided training throughout Canada and the Caribbean.

The Basics of Budgeting Workshop will be held on Tuesday, 8 March and Thursday, 10 March from 9:00 am to 4:30 pm at the Chamber of Commerce in Macdonald Square.

The cost is $200 for Chamber members and $275 for non-members. Registration is available online at www.caymanchamber.ky or by phone 949-8090.
