Sports Person of the Week

Marcus Tinoco

Friday,  February 25, 2005

After being coach of the Cayman Islands National Football Team for over 18 months this Brazilian national has changed the attitude and disposition of the team.

Marcus Tinoco said his vision is to ensure that the Cayman Islands remains competitive and the players develop skills that will keep them on the cutting edge in football.

It was partly as a result of Mr Tinoco’s hard work that the team was able to win a game in the shell cup, making it the first official international match the Cayman Islands team has won in the last seven years.

“The biggest meaning of the sport is not the money but the love and when that is achieved all things are added automatically, because when people love the sport they reach the top,” Mr Tinoco said.

He is proud of the team’s performance and said there is nothing too hard to do for the players because without them there would be no sport.
