Last Thursday 3rd March mobile telecommunications company Digicel celebrated its first full year in Cayman.
To thank customers in Cayman for their support over the year each customer has been given $1 in call credit for every month that they have been on the Digicel network.
The birthday gift applies to all customers on Digicel’s network, including digiFLEX prepaid customers, digiSELECT and digiSELECT World post-paid customers, as well as digiBIZ corporate customers.
The company marked its first anniversary with a concert at Royal Palms featuring reggae star Barrington Levy on Friday 4 March, in conjunction with Spectrum Promotions. “We want to thank all of the many customers who chose Digicel in our first year of operation. Their support has allowed us to bring greater value and choice to the Cayman Islands, and we are committed to providing these Islands with exceptional service for many years to come,” said Digicel Cayman CEO JD Buckley.
The Digicel Group’s customer base grew by 33% in 2004, and the Cayman operations made a strong contribution to this growth.
“Cayman’s consumers have seen massive reductions since the introduction of competition and Digicel’s entry into the market. For example, our current rates to the USA and Jamaica are up to 40% lower than the competition – from either a fixed or mobile phone,” added Mr. Buckley.
