Cingular: “Delivered on its promise”

Raul Nicholson-Coe,
Cingular General Manager

Monday,  March 14, 2005

In March 2004, Cingular Wireless launched its line-up of mobile wireless solutions, including wireless access to the Internet, international calling rates, international roaming, prepaid service and special incentives on mobile phones to entice customers to switch from Cable and Wireless.

“One year after our launch, Cingular has become the leader in wireless service in Cayman. We are capable of bringing the latest technologies to consumers and businesses at rates everyone can afford,” said Raul Nicholson-Coe, General Manager.

“Despite the devastation caused by Hurricane Ivan last September Cingular Wireless has fulfilled its commitment to the Cayman Islands by providing residents with reliable means to stay connected using wireless Internet, SMS and voice services”.

Focusing on the company’s international services Mr Nicholson-Coe said, “Many Cayman residents travel for business and leisure, and only Cingular can provide the convenience of worldwide roaming at affordable rates.” In January, Cingular Wireless launched roaming on its EZEE! Prepaid service.

Mr Nicholson-Coe explained a new service, which allows its prepaid customers to roam in any of the 50 states, Puerto Rico, the US Virgin Islands, Bermuda, Antigua & Barbuda, Dominica, Grenada, Barbados, St. Lucia and St. Vincent.

“Cingular Wireless has delivered on its promise to the people and the Government of the Cayman Islands to bring the most advanced technology that we use on our North American networks to the Caribbean,” said Stephanie Bariault, AT&T Wireless Vice President and General Manager for Bermuda and the Caribbean.

“Our services allow customers to access the mobile internet, your favourite websites, stay in touch with your office email, and make and receive calls, all on the same device. In September of 2004 we introduced our popular data product, mMode, to Caribbean customers. mMode offers the largest collection of mobile communication, information and entertainment sites available in the United States.”
