Contenders line up for the 2005 Election

District of West Bay


Rolston Anglin

A recent member of the Legislative Assembly who is seeking re-election on the United Democratic Party, (UDP) ticket.


Dalkeith E. Bothwell

A general officer and member of the executive of the People’s Progressive Movement, (PPM) now running on the West Bay Alliance (WBA) ticket.


Bernie A. Bush

Making his second attempt as an independent candidate to hold a seat in the Legislative Assembly.


W. McKeeva Bush

Leader of the UDP, Leader of Government Business, and first elected member of the Legislative Assembly for West Bay in year 2000.


Cadian Ebanks

Making his third bid to hold a seat in the Legislative Assembly for the district as an independent candidate.


Capt. Eugene Ebanks

A recent member of the Legislative Assembly and UDP who is seeking re-election


Leonard Ebanks

A Justice of the Peace since 1987 and is vying for candidacy for the first time. He is a member of the West Bay Alliance.


Mario E. Ebanks

1st Vice Chairman of the PPM, he is running in the political race for the second time, but this time on the WBA ticket.


Cline Glidden

The Deputy Speaker of the Legislative Assembly, a member of the UDP and the fourth elected member of the Legislative Assembly for West Bay in year 2000.


John Jefferson Jr

Fifth-time independent contender for West Bay said he has never seen the stakes this high in any election here in the Cayman Islands.


John Jefferson Snr

A four-time contender for a seat in West Bay is confident of a win because people know and trust his father and son team.


Thomas Jefferson

A member of the West Bay Alliance and already served as a member of Legislative Assembly during the years 1992 to 2000.

District of Bodden Town


Osbourne (Ossie) Bodden

A member of the PPM, making his second attempt at holding a seat in Bodden Town.


Roy Bodden

Minister of Education, he was the first elected member of the Legislative Assembly for Bodden Town in year 2000.


Sandra Catron (Solomon)

A first time independent candidate who has been very vocal on the topic of crime management in the Islands.


Charles (Chuckie) Clifford

A former Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Tourism. He is a first time candidate for a seat in the Legislative Assembly with the PPM.


Anthony “Tony” Eden

Served 3 terms as a member of the Legislative Assembly and six and a half years as Health Minister from 1994-2000 and will be running with the PPM.


Mary J. Lawrence

An independent candidate who is another new face contesting the elections for the first time.


Gilbert McLean

Deputy Leader of Government Business, Minister of Health and second elected member to the Legislative Assembly.


Mark Scotland

A first-time candidate under the UDP banner whose decision to vie for a seat was made in early in 2004 when he left the Public Work Department.

District of George Town


Herro Steve Blair
A Minister of Religion, known for his role in Sport and Family development. He is a first-time independent candidate, running under the People’s Democratic Alliance (PDA) banner.


Berna Thompson Cummins
A member of the PDA and she was previously a member of the Legislative Assembly between 1992 and 1996 for George Town.


John Henry Ebanks
A new candidate running on the UDP ticket making his first attempt at elected office.


Beulah McField
A first time contender for a seat in the Legislative Assembly. She is running on the UDP ticket.


Dr. Frank McField
The third elected member of the Legislative Assembly for George Town in year 2000 and Cabinet Minister, running for the UDP.


Alden McLaughlin
A member of the PPM, has completed one term as a member of the Legislative Assembly and was the second elected member for George Town in 2000.


Linford Pierson
Speaker of the House and fourth elected member of the Legislative Assembly for George Town in year 2000. He is now the leader of the PDA.


Gary Rankin
A first-time candidate, is running under the PDA banner with a focus on contributing to community life and education


Lloyd Samson
A new candidate on the UDP ticket and running for elected office for the first time.


Lucille Seymour
A member of the PPM who was narrowly defeated in the last election by Linford Pierson.


Elio Solomon
An independent candidate who is seeking a seat in the legislative Assembly for the first time.


Kurt Tibbetts
Served 3 terms as a Member of the Legislative Assembly. He is Leader of the PPM and first elected for George Town in year 2000.


Alfonso Wright
Another newcomer to the political race and he will be running with the PPM.

District of North Side


Alex E. Johnson
A first time contender for a seat in elections and is running on the UDP ticket


Bo Miller
An independent candidate who contested the 1984 elections in the district and is hoping for success in 2005.


Edna Moyle
A political veteran, a member of the PPM she has served three consecutive terms as a member of the Legislative Assembly for North Side.

District of East End


Arden V. McLean
A member of the PPM and has been a member of the Legislative Assembly since 2000.


John Bonwell McLean Sr
He has previously been in the contest for political representation for over two decades. He is again contesting this election on a UDP ticket.

District of Cayman Brac and Little Cayman


Julianna O’ Connor Connolly
Running with the UDP for the Sister Islands. She is the only person in the Cayman Islands to have been Opposition Member, Speaker of the House, and a Government Minister


Moses Kirkconnell
An Independent candidate for the Sister Islands, will focus on improving the declining economy to create jobs for graduates and encourage local professionals to return home.


Lyndon Martin
A founding member of the UDP, is running his third campaign as Sister Islands’ incumbent. He says he is “conservatively confident” of being re-elected


Maxine McCoy Moore
Running as an Independent candidate and promises to represent all Brackers/Caymanians and said change is inevitable for the Sister Islands.


Audley Scott
He has been nominated for his third attempt to win a seat as the Sister Islands representative. He will run as an Independent candidate.


Cantrell Scott
He is running as an Independent candidate. He said he felt the urge to be obedient to God and that righteousness needs to be restored to the island.


Kelly Thompson
He is another Independent candidate. He says nothing has been done in the last four years, and will focus on the economy, education and youth.
