The annual Butterfield Bank Irish Jog 5K, as usual provided an opportunity for community togetherness as hundreds of participants gathered at the Hyatt Britannia to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day and raise funds for hurricane recovery.

Many appeared in various costumes depicting a Hibernian theme, and the phrase for the day was “Think Green!!”

Merrymakers sported several styles of Irish headwear, beads, and shamrocks adorned various areas of anatomies. Runners, joggers, walkers and pram pushers joined forces, and were strung out over a long portion of the cart paths around the golf course.

Friendly competitors were observed, and Steve Jacoby and David Walker ran virtually shoulder-to-shoulder over most of the route, until Walker put on a final sprint that carried him across the line at the head of the field. Maria McEnery kept up a hot pace which enabled her to outdistance the rest of the large contingent of ladies who turned out to join in the fun

Visitors and residents alike were unanimous in expressing their approval.
