A New Life

Easter is a wonderful time. It reminds us of new life and of long, mostly sunny days with our family. For some it means camping all long weekend long. For others it means joyous church services celebrating life. For all of us, this Easter will be especially meaningful. We have come through the storm and though some are still fighting practical battles with funding and building, we can take a deep breath and remember we have life. The new life part is up to each and every one of us to celebrate

We now have an opportunity to redefine how important our family is to us. We can redefine the career goals we have. We can even choose a new colour of paint for our homes!

The elections were also changed and so we are presented with more time to understand our candidates and the issues and make informed choices.

One way of renewal and getting our proverbial ducks in a row is this; List all of the things/people that are important to you. Put that list away. Now list the things you spend your time on every day.

Compare the two lists. If there are discrepancies as to where you spend your time and what you value most, try to understand how you can gradually work to change this. Working from your value base will increase your feeling of control in you life. At least control over which you have control! Sometimes it is the environment in which you work that is in conflict with your personal values. Take time to do this personal inventory and see if you can work towards a new life. A life full of meaning for you and yours.

This is the gift of Easter. The promise of the renewal of life - Live!
