Billy Reid, UDP Party
Chairman
Monday, April 11, 2005
In the run up to the 11 May General Elections, the United Democratic Party (UDP) will have an additional medium to communicate to electors – the UDP website.
The launch of the site -
www.udp.ky - very early in April, brought to an end a four-month testing period during which the site was operational but was undergoing tests for potential glitches by the Party and the creative team behind the site.
Launched some six weeks prior to the date for the elections, the site is to provide information on UDP activities, updates on the current election campaign and, another forum for feedback on party matters.
The site is specifically geared towards meeting the party’s goals for communicating with the electorate during the campaign period.
Leader of Government Business, the Hon. McKeeva Bush, however said that the site, “goes well beyond the election process, it will be a lasting tool to increase our communication with the public.”
Interactive features on the site include the option for people to sign up for membership and join a mailing list to receive news and information via email.
The site, which is designed and maintained by Blue Bison Software Consultants, provides links to the official Government website, the Elections Office and the Chamber of Commerce.
“The launch of the site is a timely and important element of the UDP’s communication to its members and to the public,” said Party Chairman, Billy Reid.
The UDP and its members welcome public feedback at all times and we hope that this website will provide another opportunity for persons to learn more about the party.”
Mr Reid also said that, through the site, people would be able to make their views known on UDP policies and programmes.
