UDP put on show in George Town

Beulah McField, UDP GT
candidate

Tuesday, April 12, 2005

The United Democratic Party (UDP) held its National Campaign rally on 7 April in the Quincentennial Celebration Park.

The 32-foot wide stage was decked with chairs, dressed in white and blue with a twenty-foot high red, green and black fabric stage backdrop, stage lights and a crowd that overflowed beyond the borderless confines of the Park onto the surrounding streets.

The event had all the elements to showcase the entire UDP’s election team, and in particular, the party’s four George Town candidates - Beulah McField, Dr. Frank McField, Lloyd Sampson and John Henry Ebanks.

During the evening’s proceedings speakers jabbed hard at anyone or any entity that opposed the Party and brought stinging, and somewhat frightening comments from the throng, some of whom, had made the most of the hospitality.

However Ms McField’s honest and forthright presentation was rendered entirely without jibes that incited the crowd to ugly comments.

The party song, “Keep your eyes on the prize, don’t be dismayed; Deep in your heart, believe, everything is going to be all right,” – had the audience humming and swaying in hymn-like chorus.
