- No Net News at the Hospital
So many of us enjoy reading Net News but sadly it is now frowned upon for hospital staff to do so. Supervisors are telling hospital employees that we can’t read that Newspaper no more - so we have to wait till our shift is finished before we can find out what’s happening in the hospital. But we are sure going to miss it over our morning coffee.

- One-on-one, face-to-face, televised debate?
So let’s address the elephants in the room already. Anybody with a pulse knows that this election boils down to People’s Progressive Movement’s policies vs. the United Democratic Party’s policies, Kurt’s leadership style vs. McKeeva’s leadership style. Since we now have established parties, lets take the next logical step. I double-dog DARE you guys to a one-on-one, face-to-face, televised Chamber Forum debate.
Real leaders aren’t afraid of debates. If you can’t defend your positions with logic, you have no business leading a conga line much less a country. We get to comparison shop for everything else, why not for the future of this country?
Let everyone see for themselves who’s best suited to represent us to the rest of the world. I think we deserve it. Anybody man enough? Remember: Little boys throw rocks, Big men throw ideas.

PPM website blocked from Government Internet. What will be next? A circular from the “powers that be” telling civil servants who they MUST vote for? When civil servants have to provide their Government username and password to log on to one website (i.e. the PPM) and not the others, you know someone is watching you and something is dreadfully wrong. When will it end? Caymanians we must put a stop to this.
Also the last thing we need is Arab oil fields; we already have enough domestic terrorism. How about more support for education, health care, and all our other ailing social programs instead? We can have all this without Arab money (which by the way will not end up in my pocket or yours).
Please people, show your intelligence on May 11 and set yourselves and our country free. Money and material things will not do it for you.
Also because the freedom of speech issue is still not clear to me I am simply..... -Very Worried for our Children

Come on now, Roy, you can’t have it both ways.... you’re getting more flexible than Linnie. But please understand this, you will not fool the Bodden Town people any longer… your time is up and you are the weakest link - Goodbye! -

Way to go PPM. Have you guys seen their website and the photo on the home page? Looks like they have lined up the Cabinet already and it looks great. The PPM train is a coming so you either jump on now or you will miss the ride! -

- Police to get to the heart of community
So the RCIPS will be having a giant white police van set up in high crime areas, to act as a mini police station? Well that’s one way to rid that particular area of crime… and move it somewhere else! -

I for one am proud of the “new” Brac candidate who has pledged to talk about issues rather than personalities. It is refreshing and important for those running for election to be discussing possibilities and prospects for development on the Brac and Little Cayman. Only by stemming our declining population and enhancing business opportunities can we assure the quality of life we strive for. Our “new” candidate has spent 22 years working to preserve and improve the qualities of the Sister Islands. I think our children and grandchildren will be well served by our electing him. -

I have tried to call Mr K Tomlinson but cannot find his phone number in the Cayman directory. I have a claim settlement which has been recognized, in writing by Dyoll and would like to pursue it with him or some other Dyoll representative. Thank you. -

- Eel attacks young tourist at Stingray City’s sandbar
It would make me think twice of joining such an excursion if I ever visited your Islands. Feeding wildlife in order to get it to respond is akin to prodding a lion to get him to move. -

- Eel attacks young tourist at Stingray City’s sandbar
CITA and the Watersports Association would do well to heed the words of Gina Petrie concerning this very serious incident. A glass-bottom boat through which to watch the sting-rays and eels would certainly be a much wiser and safer way for the tourists to enjoy the sea-life. As the Bible says, “The love of money is the root of all evil”, and those green-backs seem to be more important than the safety of the people. It will be too late when someone loses their life, or a huge lawsuit is filed. The warning should be heeded. -

- Ex-pat bashing/Caymanian-bashing
To the anonymous upscale restaurant patron/beach cleaner. If you can see past the chip on your shoulder to read this, I would suggest that if you hate Cayman / Caymanians / Jamaicans so much, that you go home. If your life is so bad here and you hate it so much, why are you still here? I don’t think anyone would be holding you back if you did decide to leave. In fact, do us favour, and make good on your threat for us to see how we would cope without you here. -

- Ex-pat bashing by politicians and locals
Wow! It’s no wonder that the writer didn’t poison herself/himself with all of that venom. Using stereotypes and generalisations on such a topic is bound to be unfair. Ex-pat bashing is wrong and so is Caymanian bashing and the posting certainly did a “good job” at Caymanian bashing. Perhaps the writer was just venting some of their frustrations. As I am sure most people are aware, in the online community postings like that one would be called a “flame”, something to be discouraged as counterproductive.
For better or worse we are all in this together. The difference is that most Caymanians have nowhere else to go, and most ex-pats do. And if you are thinking that the right to live and work in the UK gives Caymanians an out, then think again. This “right” was taken from us in 1971 and recently given back again, both times by legislation in the UK parliament and so “Caesar giveth and Caesar taketh”. Furthermore, the dispensation applies only to Caymanians alive at the time the legislation was enacted and future Caymanians will not be guaranteed this right.
As a Caymanian, I have to be concerned about the future we are building for our children and personally invite anyone, Caymanian, resident and ex-pat alike to join us in building a prosperous, but fair and equitable future. In the elections on May 11th, consider a vote for our country’s future, what sort of country do we want to leave for our children? I am confident that when you consider carefully and put aside “short term gain for long term pain” there will be only one choice for this time and that choice is for the PPM - Government You Can Trust! -
