There has been much excitement on the Island over the past week or so after it was discovered that the one and only Tiger Woods had chosen to come and stay on his yacht, “Privacy”, just off George Town Harbour after his victory in the US Masters earlier this month.
The world’s premier golfer has been relaxing on his yacht after flying in with his wife, world famous model Elin Nordegren, and taking the occasional cruise out of the port and up and along the coastline either side of George Town.
The couple enjoyed a couple of days fishing off the Island before retuning to George Town
harbour.
No-one at the Island’s only operational golf course at the Hyatt Regency had spotted Mr Woods indulging in a little light practice, and a professional source close to the golfing fraternity on the Island said: “In my experience when golfing personalities such as Mr Woods come to the Island it is not to play. It is to relax and unwind.”
The star has not been spotted dining out at any of the Island’s fashionable restaurants either, but one party was honoured with a bottle of champagne sent to their table by Mr Woods earlier in the week.
Looking at the yacht, there would be no real need to step off it as it is big enough to accommodate it’s own
sumptuous dining facilities as well as every other conceivable convenience. And at a reputed $2.3 million dollars worth, that’s hardly surprising. Of course everyone who has heard of Mr Woods’ visit, especially in the tourist sector, is hoping he is enjoying his stay here in the Cayman Islands.
