One of George Town’s latest contributions to the restaurant scene is HD Morgan’s. Tucked away on Mary Street it is close enough to the capital’s business district to ensure a steady business lunch crowd but as yet word has not got out how truly splendid this steak house is – and you can still get a table for lunch.
That situation is likely to change in the foreseeable future when, if there is any justice in the food world, HD Morgan’s will have a waiting list to be proud of.
While Morgan’s does sell itself as a steak house there is so much more to this stylish and appealing restaurant and in particular at lunch when guests are offered a three course menu which includes the appetizer of the day and dessert, and then the customers choice from an entrée menu that includes everything from delicious succulent strip loin steak that you can cut with a butter knife to Lobster medallions with ravioli or tuna steak, grilled shrimp, chicken and a whole host of beef dishes.
The restaurant also makes its own unbelievable homemade onion bread, which, if you are lucky enough to go to Morgan’s on a day when the Executive Chef Bryan Noailles is serving chickpea and sun-dried tomato soup is such a perfect combination that you will melt the heart of your hardest client.
The restaurant offers a great business atmosphere too, and with booths as well as tables that are well spaced, the ambience seems almost created for a professional as well as fine-dining. The service is fantastic as the staff are extremely efficient and cater to your every need without over visiting tables during those all-important discussions.
Aside from the delicious food, perfect environment and excellent service, contrary to early opinions of the restaurant, HD Morgan’s is exceptionally good value. The three-course lunch starts at only $18 which considering the quality is exceptional value.
And that’s not all. As well as having a superb choice of wines, HD Morgan’s also serves the biggest selection of wines by the glass of any other restaurant on the Island, with some twenty-five different wines to choose from.
No matter what your reason for wining and dining a client, customer or colleague, H D Morgan’s is an excellent choice, with great food, wine, service and atmosphere.
It is worth getting in there quick too - while you can still get a table and somewhere to park.
