Ecoparty at the National Gallery

Children enjoy making works of art out of things that
they’ve found, to
celebrate Earth Week with the
National Gallery.

The National Galley celebrated the end of Earthweek with some real panache,
flair and style with their ‘Ecoparty’ for children, held outside the Gallery
at Harbour Place in George Town. Children, aged between two and thirteen years
old, came with their parents, to make works of art out of discarded material
such as cardboard tubes used in packing, chip board, paper, old twigs and
anything they could get their hands on.
The children then proceeded to demonstrate their enthusiasm and artistic
talents with these very unusual materials and the results were superb.
National Gallery’s Outreach Programme Co-ordinator, Nickola McCoy said,
“Ecoparty is held each year at the end of Earthweek, just before the clean-up.
The kids bring in materials they’ve found, and make sculptures with it.”
