Now that you have your measurements, inventory list and a good idea of how
your space will be utilized, the next step is selecting colours for your walls
and furniture.
How to select colour for a room can be a little bit
intimidating when every wall is white.
By adding colour this creates impact and dimension into a
room to make it sparkle.
Some tricks are to introduce contrast between lighter
tones of furniture and wall colour. For example, in this bedroom, the pine
tones are highlighted and framed with the darker shades of blue background.
Creating contrast and dimension your eye can easily see.
Another easy way to decorate with colour is to keep it
monochromatic by using different shades of the same colour in the room. This
can be done by layering a room with the same palette. As shown in this room
with the light green cotton fabric in the sofa & loveseat complementing the
light green walls.
Varying the intensity of colour can create a mood
especially during the different hours of the day. When you have your paint
samples, check during the morning, day and night to see how the colours are
affected by daylight and lighting in the room. Next Friday I will focus on the
many different furniture styles available to choose from.
