Kurt Tibbetts makes his stand on the hustings
promising government with integrity

The People’s Progressive Movement met for the final national rally in George
Town on Monday evening (9 May) before the election. Arden McLean aka ‘Action
Man’ stirred up the crowd as he introduced the candidates and took the
opportunity to remind the party faithful of what he described as the failings of
the incumbent “United Democratic Party”. He also had it in for the independents
running as he warned those present against voting for any Independent candidate
as he said: “They are nothing more than UDP decoys.”
He didn’t let up on the PDA, (People’s Democratic Alliance) either, when he
described those candidates as the “UDP B’ Team.”
“We need all nine,” said Mr McLean. “Don’t leave any of us behind.”
When Alden McLaughlin came to the hustings he spoke extensively about the
“rampant corruption,” he said had been a feature of the UDP Government.
He emphasised the PPM’s commitment to good governance and said that on 12 May
the PPM, “would march on the Glass House and root out all the corruption.”
He spoke at length on the importance of good governance and how the success
or failure of all nations around the world was based on the quality of good
governance and promised the audience that the PPM would deliver good governance
for Cayman.
The meeting was very well attended with a huge percentage of supporters
wearing PPM hats and T-shirts blowing whistles, horns and cheering loudly in
particular when the Leader of Government Business Hon McKeeva Bush was called
into question.
