St Ignatius KG-Year 6 School went completely bananas for a second time, on
Tuesday 10 May, with a Banana Split Day, to celebrate the end of their
three-week reading programme called, “Go Bananas over Reading.”
The programme consisted of prizes for students who read the most books, and
two Fancy dress days, when the children could dress up in yellow or brown to
represent either monkeys or bananas, and later, as characters from a book they
had read.
The Grand Finale, the Banana Split Day, kept the theme of bananas, this time
being eaten with plenty of ice cream, and the theme of monkeys, with a human
sized ‘monkey’ (or possibly somebody dressed as one) helping to give out the
prizes for the winners.
